The Veraguas Coast of the western side of the Azuero Peninsula is littered with beautiful beaches and tree covered mountains. “Ver agua” means to see water and the province of Veraguas lives up to its name. Long sweeping views of the coastline and Isla Cebaco can be seen prominently many times while on the scenic drive through small towns Mariato, Malena, Torio, Morillo, Arena and on to Flores at the entrance of Cerro Hoya National Park. Water is everywhere, it even rains a little more in Veraguas.
Whether you are into surfing the river mouth left or the reef right in Mariato or ready to challenge the powerful beach break in soon to be famous Morillo or any waves in between, this part of the Veraguas coast has what surfers are looking for, lots of waves and few people.
Veraguas is the only province in Panama that touches both oceans, the Pacific and the Atlantic. It’s one of those provinces in Panama that has a little bit of it all – mountain areas in Santa Fe, surfing, fishing, diving on the Pacific and friendly people at all parts in between. Just don’t head out to Veraguas looking for a wild nightlife, the only thing happening on the Veraguas Coast at night is a beautiful star filled sky.
