Santa Fe is located just a short drive north into the mountains above Santiago, Panama. Santa Fe is a beautiful mountain town with cool temperatures similar to, but not as cold as the highlands in Chiriqui.
Santa Fe has gorgeous clean rivers for swimming, amazing mountain views, hiking and bird watching. One can venture farther up the mountain road towards the continental divide and visit the waterfalls or choros as they are known in spanish, at Altos de Piedra or take a moment to visit the House of Orchid’s. Also, the local indigenous market in the town center has local honey, fruit and traditional woven Panama Hats available for purchase.
If possible visit Santa Fe in August when the city hosts a National Orchid Expo, it’s a great time to see a large collection, and learn about this beautiful flower.
