Getting to Boca Chica and Beyond!

Traveling in Panama for the most part is easy.  But the longer I’m here the more I learn that that is not the case in all parts of the country.

Boca Chica is a perfect example of how it’s easy to almost get there.

The turn off for Boca Chica is off the Interamericana Highway at a town called Horconcitos.  Getting to this point from David, Panama City and Santiago is easy.  Getting from the turn off to Boca Chica is not.  Other guide books and hotel websites will tell you there are regular buses that will take you to the dock at Boca Chica but they are few and far between.  (I was told by several locals that the bus runs twice a day, early morning and around 4 and that’s it.)  You’re best bet is to hope and pray for a taxi.  this will cost you between $15 and $20 dollars.

Once you arrive at the dock at Boca Chica simply ask one of the gentlemen to take you to your hotel.  Prepare to pay between $ and $3 per person.

The really great thing about Boca Chica and beyond is that it’s totally worth the effort it takes to get there.  The sea is beautiful, the scenery is like something out of a painting and there are monkeys and all kinds of critters to see!

Trust me, it’s totally worth it!
