Public Market in El Valle, Panama

Public Market, El Valle, Panama

Coconut soap, cinnamon soap and ear rings, oh my!

The Public Market in El Valle is impossible to miss.  Located right in the middle of town in a beautiful, newly renovated, open air, covered building.  Sundays and Saturdays are the best days to visit the market as every stall is filled with vendors.  The public market will fulfill all your floral,  Panamanian crafts, baked goods, and fruits and veggie needs.  I’m not sure which is more beautiful, the smell of the pastries or the smell of the flowers that fill the air.

ALl of the vendors in the market are very friendly, helpful and more then willing to pose for a photo.  Stop by and see my friend Carla who sells beautiful and unique silver and stone jewelry and the most delicious soaps.  I went with coconut and cinnamon wheat and love them both. She’s usually on the far end of the market on the flower side.  On the opposite side of the market is Cesar who makes beautiful string and beaded jewelry.  Cesar will be the one with the headful of dreads and big, friendly smile!

Plan on doing most of your souviner shopping in El Valle.  From painted feathers, to Panama hats, to hand made molas and everything in between.  If you can’t find it at the public market in El Valle then you don’t need it!

Happy Shopping!
